Don’t let vocabulary get lost in the chat

Most teachers already send something after a lesson: voice notes, a word list, a few lines in the chat. Then it scrolls away.

In the chat

  • Voice notes scroll away, and nobody plays them twice.
  • Written words get vocalized: your students read them with the sounds of their own language.
  • Nothing reminds them to come back.

In Lingophant

  • Every phrase is a flashcard with your voice, the text and a translation.
  • They hear how you say it every time they practise it.
  • Spaced repetition brings each phrase back until they know it.

Natural learning, between lessons

People learn languages mostly by speaking and listening. Your lessons do the speaking; the app makes it stick, and adds the listening. Why it works →

For your students

Their phrases, personally recorded.

They practise what you recorded with self-testing and spaced repetition, until they can say it without thinking. Your pronunciation, melody and tone come with it.

High-quality audio notes.

Prevent vocalization with sounds from their own language. Only practise with correct pronunciation.

Their level, their interests.

You record what they were missing and fix what they got wrong, so every phrase fits them exactly.

Listening between lessons.

YouTube videos from the country with dual subtitles, for real-speed understanding and grammar intuition.

Easy to start.

With phrases ready on their phone, they’re much more likely to actually practise what they learn with you.

If a student really needs to start speaking as soon as possible, Lingophant might be the key.

For you

No preparation.

A lesson is an interesting conversation about what your student cares about.

Teach every phrase only once.

If they practise, it’s still there next week.

Grammar from their own questions.

Explain the patterns after they noticed them in a phrase while practising.

See who’s practising.

Ask us for the teacher dashboard: with their OK, add your students by username or email and see how much each one practised every day.

Students who stay.

Students who practise between lessons progress faster, are happier and will likely stay longer.

I was absolutely surprised by how quickly students learned Russian with the app. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes.

What works best with the app

Lingophant works best for conversation preparation: lessons about the situations your students will really talk in. They build an active vocabulary they can use at any time, and they know it’s correct.

1Before

Ask what they need

Ask about their interests and the situations they’ll need the language in: work, family, travel, the neighbours. Then play those through in your lessons. People remember what matters to them.

2During

Record as you talk

A good lesson has 30 recordings, a great one has 40. That’s easier than it sounds: when a useful word or phrase comes up, say it once more into the app and carry on talking (teaching online? mute your laptop for that second). The more you record, the more they can practise during the week, and you’ll pick up their interests and level as you go. Record what you think is worth it too, not only what they ask for.

3After

Check, then send

When you’ve said goodbye, go through the phrases once in peace, fix what needs fixing, and send the set. Do it straight away: going back to old material later takes energy. One set per lesson: a set can’t be changed once it’s sent.

A 50-minute lesson example

  1. 10 min · Small talk. How was their week? Record what comes up.
  2. 5 min · Open questions. The notes they added while practising.
  3. 15 min · A topic.One of their interests, or a situation they’ll need.
  4. 15 min · Role-play.Play that situation through, the way it will really happen.
  5. 5 min · YouTube.Videos they could watch before the next lesson.

Phrases that teach more than one thing

Record similar words together

Two or three related words in one phrase: your students learn several for the price of one.

Point out word roots

Show where a word comes from, and they’ll recognise and remember its relatives.

Explain constructions

Show the pattern behind a phrase while you teach vocabulary. Then record a second example that uses it.

Example: teaching numbers

Don’t record twenty numbers one by one. Group them, and write them out in full in the phrase:

Five recordings instead of twenty-three flashcards, and the last two show how the bigger numbers are built.

  • uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cincoone, two, three, four, five
  • seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diezsix, seven, eight, nine, ten
  • veinte, treinta, cuarenta, cincuenta, sesenta, setenta, ochenta, noventa, cientwenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, a hundred
  • cincuenta y seis, setenta y cincofifty-six, seventy-five
  • ochenta y dos, noventa y nueveeighty-two, ninety-nine

Stay in the language

Five minutes in another language take 10% of a 50-minute lesson. So stay in the language from the start, even with beginners.

  • Tools to stay in the language. The app’s starter phrasesets include what they need to avoid switching: asking you to slow down, repeat or explain.
  • Talk slowly, and record what they’re missing. The goal is that they feel comfortable.
  • Tell them what they did well.Students usually think their level is worse than it is.
  • Recast, and record it.When they get something wrong, show you’ve understood and repeat their sentence the right way. Then record it, so they practise the correct version all week.

Let them bring their questions

Ask your students to add a note whenever a phrase raises a question: Add note → “Have an open question?”. The Open question filter in All Phrases collects them, so they come to your next lesson with a list, and you explain grammar on examples they already know. Grammar when they’re ready for it.

How to share your phrases

What your student seesYour student opens the link, sees every phrase with its translation and audio, and adds them to the app. From your teacher →

Teaching in person? You can also record straight onto your student’s phone. No link needed.

Any language.Text appears automatically in 30+ languages. Teaching one that isn’t on the list? Choose Other and type the phrase yourself: minority languages work too.

Your voice is your property

  • Private by default.Only people with the exact link can open a set. Nobody finds your phrases without it.
  • Yours, not ours.We don’t use your recordings to train AI models or give anyone access to them.
  • Transcription.Recordings are sent to Apple or Google to be transcribed. We pay extra so Google doesn’t store them.
  • Stored only when shared.Your phrases live on your phone. We store recordings only when you share them in a set. Delete your account and your sets are gone: students can no longer download them (what they already downloaded stays on their phones).
  • We follow the EU’s GDPR.And as a sole proprietorship, our founder is personally liable for it. Details in our privacy policy.
