Lingophant is a Social Business with the aim of innovating around the experience of Language Learning.
We believe to have built the fastest way to create authentic practice cards in-action, and are innovating from there.
What started with an App became a vision about supporting any context by easy practice card generation and sharing. We have worked on a language learning chatbot, on a tool for language cafes and tandems, and on a way for teachers to include personalized learning into their classrooms and schools.
It was funded entirely from savings, salary, and a small loan. This puts us in the unique position to be able to designate 51% of profits to a fund for social impact and educational projects. And put maximizing social impact ahead of maximizing profits. It was built with help from friends and freelancers. We use the license and service money you trust us with to improve and maintain our product and services.
Having gotten to know our product, we see a potential to digitise classroom learning and make students learn 100% more content in the same time. We also see a potential in increasing the effectiveness of language tandems by a factor 3, and the effectiveness of language cafes even by a factor 4. Also after some chatbot tests, with challenges and multimedia content, we open up a completely new way of authentic self-directed learning.
We hope you enjoy our product and you can join our newsletter if you want to hear from us or join our learning programs.
The people making language learning great again
Design and Artwork
Maria Belova, certified English as a second language trainer, is helping out whenever we need some graphic designs. For blogposts, for ads, for flyers, she’s a multitalent in visual expression.
Jake has an eye for detail. Not only in designs but also in the Swift code of our iOS app. Still a student from Watfort close to London, he is already pushing the useability of Lingophant to new levels.
CTO / Backend Builder
Theatre Criticism student from Damascus, who is now a software developer. Majd is making sure the chatbot suggests the right challenges and that phrases can be shared more easily.
Sabine Elisa Köck
Studies Cultural Anthropology and Transcultural Communication, and a true all-rounder. A lot of the chatbot’s character comes from her playful yet smart way of writing.
